About

A Community of Hope and Healing

The Freemen House is a 12-Step, substance-free community located in the greater Dover, NH area, dedicated to supporting men and women in their recovery from alcoholism and substance use disorder. We are more than just housing—we are a family. Our residents live and grow together in a supportive environment, where every individual is valued, respected, and empowered to rebuild their lives.

We gather each week for family dinner and usually have over 25 to 55+ people attend.

Roots

The Freemen House, founded in 2005, began as a vision to create a safe space for individuals in recovery. Overcoming his struggles through faith, community, and the 12 Steps, Shawn aimed to offer others the same path. Starting with one home, it has grown into a family serving the Dover and Rochester recovery communities.

Their Social Model philosophy fosters peer support and connection, helping residents rebuild their lives and grow through local resources and training.

Founders

Shawn and Leah, founders of The Freemen House, answered God’s call to help individuals seeking freedom from addiction by creating a supportive recovery community.
