The Freemen House is a 12-Step, substance-free community for men and women in recovery from alcoholism and/or substance use disorder
Welcome to The Freemen House, a sober living community dedicated to empowering individuals on their journey to sobriety, healing, and personal transformation. Our mission is to provide a supportive and structured environment where men and women can overcome addiction, rebuild their lives, and discover true freedom through an authentic relationship with a loving God.
At The Freemen House, we believe in a holistic approach to recovery—one that addresses not only the physical and emotional aspects of addiction but also the spiritual. Through personalized care, community support, and the proven effectiveness of the 12-step recovery process, we walk alongside each resident, helping them rediscover their purpose and lay the foundation for lasting change.
what makes us different
We are committed to helping individuals develop a personal and meaningful relationship with God, as they understand Him, which serves as a guiding force in their recovery journey.
Our program offers the structure and accountability needed to build a sober lifestyle, with a focus on spiritual growth, community engagement, and personal responsibility.
We integrate the proven principles of the 12 Steps from Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), or Heroin Anonymous (HA), providing residents with a clear path to healing and wholeness.
Recovery is not a journey to be walked alone. At The Freemen House, we foster a supportive and encouraging community where residents can build strong, lasting connections and support one another on the path to sobriety.
A Safe and Supportive Environment: Our sober living community provides a safe, drug-free space where residents can focus on recovery and rebuild their lives without distractions.
Spiritual and Emotional Growth: The Freemen House is a place for spiritual reflection, healing, and growth. We offer guidance and support in seeking a deeper relationship with God, as well as addressing the emotional challenges of addiction recovery.
Life Skills and Personal Responsibility: We encourage all residents to take an active role in their recovery by maintaining employment, managing finances, volunteering, and contributing to the house community.
A Long-Term Commitment to Change: Our program is designed for long-term success, with residents encouraged to commit to a minimum of three months, and ideally, one year to fully benefit from the structure, guidance, and community we provide.
At The Freemen House, we believe that sobriety is just the beginning. Our goal is to help each resident rediscover their self-worth, rebuild their relationships, and step confidently into a future filled with hope and purpose. With the guidance of a loving God, a supportive community, and the transformative power of the 12 Steps, freedom and wholeness are within reach.

I am a resident at the Freemen House in Rochester and have been living here since March of 2024. The structure and support that this program offers is amazing and has been a real blessing in my life. The program truly lives up to their reputation of building lives, including mine, through God’s blessing and grace, by providing a solid foundation and program, that is essential to a successful “Recovery”. I continue to feel stronger everyday with the love and support of this community. There's been a lot of miracles that have taken place in my life since I first arrived here, just in this short period of time. By coming here, it allowed me to find solace in a program of principles, service, and love. And today, with their help and guidance, I am a man who failed, was a sinner, was honest about it, took accountability for it, and then made course corrections. Which is why I would highly recommend it to anyone that has a friend or family member in recovery or anyone in recovery themselves. The Freemen House provides its residents the freedom to live their lives but with the support and accountability that can be truly beneficial to living a life of recovery.
